WEDDINGS IN SICILY

Historic palazzi. The wild south.
The sea, Mount Etna, and an island
full of contrasts.

Sicily feels like many destinations within one island. Between Taormina and Palermo, Baroque towns, vineyards, volcanic landscapes, and the Mediterranean, its character changes time and again.

That variety is its particular strength for a wedding: historic palazzi and grand hotels, gardens above the sea, private country estates, and places that retain a distinctive Sicilian atmosphere.

We create a wedding weekend that connects architecture, landscape, cuisine, and hospitality in a way that truly suits you and your chosen part of Sicily, rather than applying an interchangeable “Italian wedding” concept.

WHAT MAKES SICILY SPECIAL

Sicily has many distinct identities. The island’s character changes from region to region, which makes it particularly special for destination weddings.

Taormina offers expansive views, historic grand hotels, Mediterranean gardens, and proximity to Mount Etna. Palermo feels more urban and lively, shaped by palazzi, culture, and Sicilian city cuisine. In the southeast, Baroque towns, country estates, wine, and a quieter landscape define the setting.

For your wedding, this means the region itself shapes the atmosphere before the venue is even chosen.

A welcome dinner overlooking the sea, a day among vineyards and countryside, a wedding at a historic palazzo or hotel, and a long brunch the following morning can connect very different sides of Sicily.

We begin by considering which part of the island suits you, your guests, and your desired wedding weekend, rather than simply searching for the most spectacular venue.

Iconic · Elegant · Unmistakable.

03 / The Venues

WEDDING VENUES IN SICILY

Sicily offers many different wedding settings. Historic grand hotels above the sea, city palazzi, gardens, and private estates among vineyards and volcanic landscapes open up very different possibilities.

We therefore choose venues based on more than first impressions. What matters is your desired atmosphere and how the wedding, accommodations, and weekend can actually work in that setting.

SAN DOMENICO PALACE · TAORMINA

A former monastery in the heart of Taormina, with historic cloisters, Mediterranean gardens, and views across the Ionian Sea toward Mount Etna. Varied indoor and outdoor spaces allow the ceremony, aperitivo, and dinner to each have their own atmosphere within the property. For couples seeking history, a spectacular setting, and international luxury hospitality, San Domenico Palace is one of the island’s most extraordinary addresses.

GRAND HOTEL TIMEO · TAORMINA

Beside the ancient theater, Grand Hotel Timeo combines lush gardens and panoramic terraces with one of Taormina’s best-known views. It is particularly appealing for wedding weekends where the hotel, celebration, and guest experience are closely connected. An exclusive hotel buyout may also be part of the concept, depending on scope and availability.

MONACI DELLE TERRE NERE · MOUNT ETNA

Set among vineyards, citrus gardens, and lava stone on the slopes of Mount Etna, this estate feels quieter and more rural than Taormina. The combination of volcanic landscape, wine, contemporary Sicilian hospitality, and the possibility of an exclusive estate buyout makes Monaci particularly appealing for couples seeking a more private wedding weekend centered on one place.

A historic seaside palazzo just minutes from central Palermo. Art Nouveau architecture, gardens, grand interiors, and views across the gulf create a very different atmosphere from the island’s east coast. Villa Igiea particularly suits weddings connecting Palermo, architecture, city life, and Mediterranean elegance.

VILLA IGIEA · PALERMO

The right venue is ultimately chosen through more than photographs. We check guest count, rooms, exclusivity, event spaces, curfews, weather alternatives, transfers, and production access early, so the setting works for your wedding as beautifully as it looks.

04 / The Planning

FROM THE REGION TO THE WEDDING WEEKEND.

In Sicily, we plan weddings through FULL SERVICE and, at selected, assessed venues, through our COLLECTION. We first establish which region suits you, which venue accommodates your guest count, and how you want to experience the weekend together. The planning approach and design concept build on that foundation.

We manage venue selection, vendor coordination, creative direction, budget, guest logistics, and production, bringing every area together within one concept.

In Sicily especially, many decisions are closely linked. The region determines arrivals and transfers, the venue shapes accommodations and schedules, and your desired wedding weekend influences which additional events make sense.

Our aim is to develop a clear, individual direction from Sicily’s variety, from your guests’ first arrival through the last shared event.

05 / The Guest Experience

A WEDDING WEEKEND THAT BRINGS SICILY TO LIFE.

Sicily is particularly suited to weddings that unfold over several days. The island offers enough different facets to give each day its own atmosphere, without needing to fill every moment with activities.

In Taormina, sea views, historic hotels, and Mount Etna can shape the weekend. Around Palermo, palazzi, markets, the coast, and a distinctive urban culture create a more city-centered experience. In the southeast or wine regions, Sicily feels quieter, more rural, and intimate.

A welcome dinner, a shared day by the sea or at a winery, the wedding day itself, and a relaxed brunch can become a varied weekend that never feels overloaded.

We allow enough time for guests to experience the place, people, food, and atmosphere, rather than moving constantly between events.

For us, that is the strength of a destination wedding: experiencing a special place together as well as celebrating there.

06 / Travel & Logistics

THE RIGHT REGION MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

Catania and Palermo are the main arrival points for international weddings in Sicily. The most practical route for your guests depends strongly on which part of the island hosts your wedding.

Taormina and the east coast can generally be organized well through Catania, while Palermo airport serves the west. For southeastern or more inland venues, additional transfer time needs to be considered realistically from the beginning.

Sicily’s size makes it important to avoid unnecessary long journeys within a wedding weekend. We therefore plan accommodations, airport transfers, shuttle times, return journeys, and additional events as one system.

Our aim is for your guests to experience the island’s scale and variety without having to organize their own travel between places.

Logistics remain in the background, making everything feel easy and natural.

07 / The Season

WHEN TO GET MARRIED IN SICILY

Sicily offers very good conditions for destination weddings from spring through fall. The atmosphere you want and how much of your wedding relies on outdoor spaces matter more than a single “perfect month.”

May and June are particularly appealing for outdoor ceremonies and dinners. Days are long, the landscape feels fresh, and temperatures are usually pleasant.

September and early October are also very appealing. The light softens, the island retains its Mediterranean character, and many events can still take place outdoors.

July and August bring Sicily’s most intense summer atmosphere. Temperatures, occupancy, and demand also rise considerably. For international guests especially, we carefully consider timing, shade, air-conditioned retreats, and comfort.

We choose the right time by considering the region, venue, daily schedule, and wedding weekend together.

08 / The Budget

HOW MUCH DOES A WEDDING IN SICILY COST?

The cost of a wedding in Sicily depends mainly on your chosen region and venue, how many guests travel, and the scope of your wedding weekend.

An elegant celebration at a historic villa, an exclusive seaside wedding, or a wedding weekend with special experiences each brings its own requirements and possibilities.

For premium venues and celebrations over several days, accommodations, dining, transfers, design, technical production, and additional events all matter alongside the wedding day.

We consider the budget as a whole from the beginning. Our aim is to coordinate the venue, design, hospitality, and guest experience into a cohesive concept, with exceptional standards and attention to detail.

09 / The Ceremony

CIVIL, SYMBOLIC, OR RELIGIOUS: GETTING MARRIED IN SICILY

In Sicily, your ceremony can take different forms: personal and symbolic, a legally recognized civil ceremony, or a religious ceremony.

A symbolic ceremony offers the greatest creative freedom and, depending on the venue, can take place in a garden, on a terrace, in a historic courtyard, or overlooking the sea.

A legally recognized civil ceremony is also possible in principle. Required documents and approved ceremony locations depend on your nationality and the municipality. We therefore check these requirements individually and early.

Sicily offers many historic churches and chapels for religious ceremonies. Denomination, date, and the relevant religious requirements need to be coordinated in good time.

For us, the ceremony belongs spatially, visually, and atmospherically within the entire wedding day. It should feel as personal as everything that follows.

10 / Wedding Planning in Sicily

VARIETY CALLS FOR A CLEAR SELECTION.

Sicily offers an extraordinary range of possibilities. Good planning begins with a clear choice of the atmosphere, region, and kind of wedding weekend that truly suit you, rather than a long list of beautiful venues.

We structure that selection, assess suitable properties and vendors, and develop an individual master plan for your wedding.

Alongside design and schedule, we consider the budget, guest journeys, accommodations, production, weather alternatives, and collaboration between all partners.

Our role is to create a clear direction from many possibilities and guide decisions toward a wedding in Sicily that truly feels like you.

FAQ

For a destination wedding in Sicily, we ideally recommend around 18 months of planning. For particularly sought-after hotels, exclusive buyouts, or popular weekends, around 24 months can be helpful. Shorter timelines are possible if the venue, accommodations, and vendors remain available.

How far in advance should we plan our wedding in Sicily?

1

Do we need to travel to Sicily and visit venues before booking?

2

Not necessarily. We can create an initial shortlist based on your wishes, guest count, budget framework, and logistical requirements. Once the selection is narrower, visiting venues together in Sicily is often useful, as access, distances, the feel of the spaces, and weather alternatives can only be assessed to a limited extent in photographs.

Can we book a hotel or estate exclusively for our wedding in Sicily?

3

Some hotels, resorts, and private estates offer buyouts in principle. Conditions such as minimum stays, room allocations, minimum spend, and exclusivity periods vary considerably. We check these during venue selection and include them in overall budget planning.

Do you work with local or international vendors in Sicily?

4

Both. We build the team to suit the wedding. Where local expertise offers an advantage, we work with partners on the island. For certain areas, vendors from other Italian regions or abroad may also make sense. Quality, reliability, style, and effective on-site production are what matter to us.

Are there restrictions on music and party times at weddings in Sicily?

5

This depends strongly on the venue, municipality, and event type. Some properties have fixed curfews or outdoor music rules; others offer suitable indoor spaces for a later party. We check these conditions before booking so the venue suits your desired schedule.

Are fireworks or special entertainment productions possible in Sicily?

6

Special productions may be possible, depending on the venue, local rules, permits, safety requirements, and season. We check these wishes early with the venue and relevant partners before confirming them within the concept.

Can we use several different venues during our wedding weekend?

7

Yes, and this can be particularly appealing in Sicily. The key is keeping distances and transfers practical. We prefer a considered sequence of two or three well-chosen settings that reveal different sides of Sicily without keeping guests constantly on the move.
